ALCOHOL

Persons of age 65 or older constitute the fastest growing segment of the American population. Although the extent of the alcohol consumption among the elderly is not high, the diagnosis and treatment of alcohol consumption are increasingly important as the elderly population grows. The consumption of alcohol increases safety risk at home, and on the highways.

Alcohol Consumption
Alcoholic beverages supply calories but few nutrients, and are harmful when consumed in excess. Some people should not drink at all. Excess alcohol alters judgment and can lead to dependency and a great many other serious health problems.  Read this article to learn about drinking in moderation and how to reduce your risk.  See Article

What Are the Penalties of Driving Under the Influence?
DUI penalties are court ordered criminal violations. Most states are taking a hard line on DUI, including a zero tolerance for underage drivers. But no matter the age, even first time DUI offenders receive significant fines, jail time, probation, license suspensions, community service, and/or driver training programs. The penalties become far more extensive and punitive as the number of convictions increase.  See Article
